Arixtra Drug Interactions

Arixtra Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Arixtra is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Dasatinib
Combining Arixtra with dasatinib may increase the risk of bleeding, including dangerous internal bleeding. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely than usual.

Drotrecogin Alfa
Combining Arixtra with drotrecogin alfa may increase the risk of bleeding, including dangerous internal bleeding. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely than usual. This appears to be more of a problem with the higher doses of Arixtra used to treat blood clots, rather than the lower dosages used to prevent them.

Ibritumomab
Combining Arixtra with ibritumomab may increase the risk of bleeding, including dangerous internal bleeding. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely than usual.

Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium
Combining Arixtra with pentosan polysulfate sodium may increase the risk of bleeding, including dangerous internal bleeding. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely than usual.

Tositumomab
Combining Arixtra with tositumomab may increase the risk of bleeding, including dangerous internal bleeding. If you must take these medications together, your healthcare provider should monitor you more closely than usual.

Other Medications That "Thin" the Blood
Other medications that have anticoagulant, antiplatelet, or thrombolytic effects may increase the risk of bleeding with Arixtra. Always check with your healthcare provider before combining Arixtra with any such medications. Sometimes, these medications (especially thrombolytics, aspirin, or warfarin) are intentionally combined with Arixtra.
