Arixtra Warnings and Precautions
- Are allergic to Arixtra, fondaparinux, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Have severe kidney impairment.
- Have active, major bleeding.
- Have bacterial endocarditis (a bacterial infection of the lining of the heart).
- Have (or have ever had) low blood platelets in combination with a positive lab test for antiplatelet antibodies due to Arixtra (sometimes known as "fondaparinux-induced thrombocytopenia").
- Weigh less than 110 pounds (for clot prevention only; this restriction does not apply for clot treatment).
