Trental Medication Information
Trental® (pentoxifylline) is available by prescription only and is used to help improve circulation in adults who have peripheral arterial disease (PAD). This medication is not appropriate for everyone; your healthcare provider needs complete information on your medical history and what medications you are taking before prescribing Trental.
Although many people do not have any problems while taking this drug, Trental can cause side effects, such as nausea and vomiting. In many cases, these reactions can be alleviated by lowering your Trental dosage.
Trental comes in the form of extended-release tablets and is typically taken three times daily. You should take your dosage with food, as it can help with absorption of the medicine into the body and help reduce side effects.
