Summary of DVT Treatments

Most DVT treatments take place at home. Patients with DVT should:
 
  • Take deep vein thrombosis medications correctly.
  • Have blood work drawn as directed by their doctor.
  • Avoid activities that may cause a serious injury.
  • Talk to their doctor before taking any other medications, especially over-the-counter medications.
  • Ask their doctor about their diet. Certain foods will affect how well anticoagulants work.
