Blood Home > Arixtra Drug Interactions

Additional Information and Notable Exceptions

Arixtra does not interact with vitamin K or foods rich in vitamin K. People often mistakenly assume that it does, as warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®), an oral anticoagulant, interacts with vitamin K. Of course, you must still follow the usual dietary restrictions if you are taking warfarin and Arixtra together. However, if you are taking just Arixtra, there are no dietary restrictions.

Arixtra does not interact with acetaminophen (Tylenol®). Therefore, acetaminophen is usually the preferred over-the-counter pain or fever medication for people on Arixtra.

It should be noted that herbal medications might interact unpredictably with Arixtra, perhaps increasing the risk of bleeding or possibly making Arixtra less effective. Therefore, check with your healthcare provider before combining any herbal medication with Arixtra.

Final Thoughts

It is possible that not all drug interactions with Arixtra were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific drug interactions that may apply to you.
