Pralatrexate Side Effects

Among the many possible side effects of pralatrexate are nosebleeds, fatigue, and constipation. This prescription medication can also cause low levels of certain blood cells, which may increase your risk for infections or bleeding problems. Seek immediate medical treatment if you develop potentially serious reactions, such as painful urination, an unexplained rash, or severe diarrhea.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Pralatrexate

Just like any chemotherapy medicine, pralatrexate (Folotyn®) can cause side effects, some of which can be quite significant. Serious Pralatrexate Side Effects

Some side effects of pralatrexate are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
 
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Unexplained swelling, especially of the mouth, lips, or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
 
  • Signs of infection, such as:
 
    • Fever
    • Aches and pains
    • Chills
    • Shortness of breath
    • Sore throat
    • Cough
    • Painful urination
 
  • Signs of anemia, such as:
 
    • Unusual tiredness
    • Weakness
    • Pale skin
    • Shortness of breath
 
  • Severe or persistent diarrhea or vomiting
  • Sores, blisters, or swelling of the mouth, lips, gums, throat, or tongue
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • A rapid heartbeat
  • Rash, sores, blistering, or peeling of the skin.
