Diagnosing Varicose Veins
In order to make a diagnosis of varicose veins, your healthcare provider will ask a number of questions, including questions about:
- Your symptoms
- Any other medical conditions you may have
- Your current medications
- Your family history of any medical conditions.
The healthcare provider will also perform a physical exam to look for signs and symptoms of varicose veins. If he or she suspects varicose veins, an ultrasound may be recommended. An ultrasound is a test that allows the healthcare provider to look at how the blood is flowing and also to look for possible causes of the varicose veins.
